Using Gems and Custom GPTs in Teaching

In this workshop, we will begin with a brief overview of the conceptual and practical foundations for creating and using CustomGPTs, focusing on how they can support instructional goals and enhance student engagement. Faculty members will present how they have integrated CustomGPTs into their courses. These examples will span different course types and highlight a range of approaches to using GPT—from supporting assignments and student learning to streamlining instructional tasks.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe key concepts and components of CustomGPTs and Gems in an educational context
  • Compare different use cases of GPT across course types and instructional needs
  • Design a preliminary plan for integrating CustomGPTs into their courses.
